Capsule Geology

The Sal 19 showing area is underlain by fragmental volcanic rock, andesite, tuffs, argillite and siltstone of the Upper Triassic Stuhini Group. The stratigraphy is intruded by Early Jurassic monzodiorite to gabbro of the Texas Creek Plutonic Suite. In 1965, geological mapping on the Rex, Sal, and Rum claim groups was carried out on behalf of Bralorne Pioneer Mines Limited. Several quartz veins were found to cut the volcanic rocks but only one was mineralized. Malachite is found in a 0.6 to 1.5 metre wide vein that occupies a vertical shear striking northwest. No assays were reported.
